I was expecting this to be a silly little shitpost of a game, but it's actually surprisingly hard. It took me two goes just to beat the first level and I'm still trying to figure out a strategy to beat the second level. The game just doesn't seem to give you enough money to build up any meaningful defences, and you get overwhelmed without really being able to do anything about it.

I'm still really enjoying it though, so I'm gonna keep trying and hopefully it'll click soon.

Tap existing towers to upgrade them, that seems to be a step a lot of people are missing. Also, there's an "upgrades" menu for perma-upgrades on the world map.

Pros:
+Pretty solid variation on the "match-three" formula, reminds me of "Diamond Mine" from Bejeweled 3 (which is a good thing)
+Good graphics and music
+Hi-score integration encourages repeat play

Cons:
-Really needs a tutorial screen to explain what the power-ups are, how to clear the white gems (I passed Easy Level 4 by complete accident)
-No points bonus for chains/combos/cascades/whatever you wanna call them
-Needs either more levels, or some kind of game mode in which you play until you lose

Overall, a pretty solid puzzle game, with some decent potential. It just needs a bit more improving, a bit more polish, and then it'll be great. (And yes, it's kind of a Bejeweled rip-off, but there's so damn many of them already so surely one more couldn't hurt? ;P )

turtlesf responds:

A tutorial screen should be added and some more levels. 5 levels a mode may be too short of a game for someone who has played enough. Chains may be difficult to program. Thanks for the great suggestions.
I googled Diamond Mine and agree, I can definitely see the resemblance (I have played Bejeweled 2, liked the art and sound).

Very good. Simple, yet addictive, and in a cool pixelated style. It's especially fun when you manage to rack up a massive combo and you can just sit back and watch the massive explosions chain-react across the whole screen.

As for improvements, you could perhaps try different game modes (such as seeing how many you can kill in one minute, or with a single bullet), and add ships with different explosion patterns or that travel at different speeds, just to mix things up a bit. Otherwise, a very solid and enjoyable game.

Good ideas in these comments. They are great source of inspiration for a sequel.

Great game

Pros:
*Unique, enjoyable gameplay. I expected this to be a "create your own robot from a bunch of parts" dress-up-type game, but instead it's an actual game with a lot of skill involved XD
*Lots of endings to get, with most of them being completely unexpected and frankly bizarre
*Great artwork

Cons:
*When all the parts drop and scatter and bounce around, sometimes it's all too easy for the part you want to overlap with another part, so you can't collect it without accidentally replacing a part you've already got. This means you then have to chase that part around the screen for the next few seconds before it disappears and you have to collect it again.
*There should have been more bonuses ocne you've completed the game

Overall, a fun little game. 5/5 9/10.

DieterTheuns responds:

Thank you for your review. We would love to have given a bigger bonus, but hey, tight schedules are a pain.

Not bad...

Good points:
*Nice selection of characters (good to see the Daleks, evem if I can't beat them)
*Some funny cutscenes
*Some great finishers
*Good difficulty level

Bad points:
*You need to be less abusive towards the player (so less 'Press the fucking button, genius')
*You need to work on the main character's design...I'm fighting super-realistic, detailed robots with a demented-looking Cartman? Srsly? There are also some sections where your drawing is a little weak, you just need to put more effort in.
*The text is a bit plain (you can find some wicked robot-style fonts on dafont.com)
*Maybe some music would come in handy.

So overall, it's a pretty decent game. It just needs some more effort put in to make it a great game. So for now, 6/10.

A Dr. Who fan? Anyway, sounds like you enjoyed the game but unfortunately knit picked the shit outa it. Six isn't a HORRIBLE score I suppose but I'm still gonna have to respond to these bad points.

This game is part of a series. Damian is a big part of the series as is being abusive to the player. This one was actually a bit tame compared to the others. It's just a joke anyway, if you're sensitive enough to be offended by a video game then it's not the game that has a problem.

I dunno what sections my drawing is weak- you just said how detailed my robots were but I'm guessing that didn't go into your final score.

I chose Consolas for the text so that it'd look like a computer console... but you're right I'll go to DaFont and replace it with text where each letter is held by a feckin' dancing robot. That'll look good, not childish at all.

Can't have music playing when the player is listening for the draw signal. I did put some in later for a boss intro but you didn't get that far.

In fact, you didn't really get far enough to write a proper review and defiantly not far enough to tell me I have to put more effort into it. You only played like half the game so you've no idea what wonderous (effort filled) surprises lie in store.

I appreciate all the good points though. Just a shame you decided to make mountains outa mole hills with the bad ones.

Great game

Thing is, though, I only found 17 fails and got the medal...can't find the secret medal or the 'Want Donut' medal either. I suppose that's why the secret medal's secret, and the Want Donut medal's 100pts.

The fails themselves were hilarious. I particularly liked the Pheonix Wright sketches. 'What...is this?' 'It's evidence!' lol. Oh, and the jetpack. That was great.

And just for anyone who's confused, 'opacity' is how opaque something is. If something has 100% opacity, it's opaque. If something has 0% opacity, it's transparent. Hence, Opacitator. Happy to help ^^

PuffballsUnited responds:

There's a glitch in the game and the fail in the trial is actually not marked down. And yes, the way you described opacity is the way I used the name for the Opacitator.

Very nice

Good points:
*The optional music, with the mute button as well (still figuring out how to do that)
*The multiple backgrounds
*Rotations (they work just like the rotations in my game lol)
*A whole lot of weapons
*Zombie hands! Lol

Bad points:
*Maybe more knife wounds/slashes
*The pointing hands don't work properly (although I think you already know that)
*One of the guns (the top one) only has one copy, while all the others have several (didn't think I'd notice?)

Nice work though. 8/10.

XRoadKillX responds:

Gimme another try ^^

Wow...

I have to admit, this is well worth the wait. Absolutely flawless. The song creation and practising looked confusing at first, but after a bit of practise I was a master. The cutscenes are hilarious as well (you just gotta love Hackit!)

Forget 10/10...this game goes up to 11! (yay cheesy references)

Evil-Dog responds:

haha hackit is cool :D

I'm a guy with way too many ideas and not enough time. In my spare time I develop indie games and occasionally write things.
